The Opportunity:

As the Executive Assistant to the CEO, you’ll provide high-level executive support, manage key relationships, and contribute to organisational leadership and advocacy. This pivotal position will lead and mentor the Executive Support and Councillor Support Officers while also building frameworks and policies for the executive support group across the organisation.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly visible environment and who understands the importance of discretion, diplomacy, and has strong political awareness. If you’re an experienced executive assistant looking for a unique role involving team leadership, government advocacy and project management, this is the role for you!

The key responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the CEO, including diary, travel and correspondence management.
  • Lead and mentor a small support team, ensuring consistent processes across all Executive Assistants.
  • Coordinate meetings, travel, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support governance, advocacy, and special projects in collaboration with the CEO.
  • Establish systems to enhance workflow and promote organisational efficiency.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in an executive support role — ideally in government or a similar environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and proactive approach.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and project management skills.
  • A high level of political acumen and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and you must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
