Position overview 

As the Statutory Planning Coordinator, you will lead the statutory planning team in its delivery of services to customers in the Shire, facilitate development approvals and pre-application meetings and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the team.

You will:

  • Ensure service provision is efficient and effective achieving set timeframes.
  • Mentor and assist your team, providing guidance in their role and its responsibilities and ensuring there are processes and procedures in place.
  • Maintain a customer service focused culture.
  • Prepare detailed reports and project manage complex/significant planning permit applications and represent Council at VCAT.

 What we require from you (Key Selection Criteria):

  • Relevant qualification in Town Planning and a minimum of seven years’ experience in land use planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with service users and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and procedures related to the functions of the Planning and Development Unit.
  • Ability and capacity to make independent and unassisted decisions.
  • Ability to work with, assist and mentor other less experienced professionals.
  • Ability to lead, innovate and adapt to change

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, based in Bairnsdale. Relocation assistance will be considered for the right applicant.
