General Leading Hand Landfills and Transfer Stations

The Opportunity:

Join our Sustainability and Waste Minimisation team as a General Leading Hand! This role ensures smooth operations of landfills and waste transfer stations while promoting compliance and safety standards. You'll oversee day-to-day waste and recycling services, guide and support staff, and help implement systems and processes to enhance efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee weekend waste operations at Bairnsdale and other sites.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA regulations, safety standards, and Council policies.
  • Supervise and support landfill and waste transfer station staff.
  • Handle contractor operations, rostering, and administrative tasks.

 

This is a full-time ongoing position, including weekends.

 

What we are looking for: (Key Selection Criteria)

  • Demonstrated understanding of waste operations.
  • Track record in achieving results at a leading hand level.
  • Demonstrated good IT skills.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance and reporting.
  • A current, valid Victorian Driver’s licence.

 

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and pre-employment medical check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
