The Opportunity

As the Human Resources Recruitment Officer, you’ll take the lead on Council’s end to end recruitment process, overseeing advertising, recruitment and selection of talent. 

You’ll also develop improvements that promote the recruitment of the most suitable applicants for roles and provide new hires with a strong start in their employment with Council.

Your main day to day tasks will include:

  • Overseeing the functions of advertising, recruitment and selection of employees, providing direction to Human Resources Administration Officers to support these activities.
  • Developing and implementing innovative recruitment strategies to attract suitably qualified staff.
  • Liaising with talent platforms and external recruitment agencies, including the management of contracts/agreements.
  • Coaching and supporting hiring managers in the undertaking of recruitment, including the conducting of interviews.
  • Supporting the wider Human Resources team with general HR operations, such as the implementation of policies/procedures and responding to enquiries.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity based from either Lakes Entrance or Bairnsdale.

Things You’re Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria)

  • Tertiary qualifications and relevant experience, or less formal qualifications with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in human resources and recruitment practices.
  • Relevant experience in the application of employment legislation and end-to-end recruitment practices.
  • Ability to provide specialist advice and coaching regarding recruitment processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with internal staff and external clients to gain cooperation to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Experience in interpreting Enterprise Agreements and specific legislation relevant to human resources management and employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve the customer experience in the provision of HR expertise.
  • A current, valid Victorian Driver’s licence.

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
