Recreation Planner

Recreation Planner

Position overview

This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Council’s works depot in Kalimna West.

The purpose of the role is to advise Council on community recreation facilities and related land management issues, to develop clear policy to guide the provision, management, and governance arrangements associated with the provision and management of community recreation facilities and public open space and to work with officers to ensure day to day management of reserves, halls and other public open spaces is aligned to good practice and equitable management practices.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant experience in recreation planning and project development, and/or degree qualifications in recreation planning, leisure studies, recreation management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of recreation masterplans, as well as project planning for recreation infrastructure projects.
  • Capacity to work autonomously in challenging community-based environments.
  • Demonstrated high level communication, engagement and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a legislative and Policy environment, in relation to public land management.
  • Demonstrated IT skills and an ability to use a range of packages and systems.
  • A current, valid Victorian driver’s licence.
